The Taronga Zoo released this Blue Penguin back into her native waters after some much needed care. She arrived at the Taronga Zoo underweight and affected by parasites. She was given the best care possible including X-rays, blood tests and worming medications. She made an excellent recovery and plunged back into the icy waters upon her return to her home of North Curl Curl Beach. (http://www.zoo.nsw.gov.au)

| Zoos are a positive addition to the communities in which they are located as well as the animals housed in them. Zoos benefit endangered species by breeding, and they also aid in research and knowledge about animals. Communites are provided advantages by zoos. Zoos are also an educational experience for those that visit them. For our English 1101 class, we were assigned a debate project. This project had to be on a controversial issue. We are working in partners for this debate, and we are debating against two other students. For my debate I am doing if zoos should be kept or not. My partner and I are going to try to prove that zoos are a good part of society and should therefore be kept. We are debating against two of our classmates who think that zoos are unethical and should be abolished. We think zoos help animals through research and breeding programs. Zoos are also a benefit to communities and are very educational.
